35, I moved from Madrid to London to start a new job, in a new industry. That change was not what I expected: I never imagined that I\u2019ll end up crying most days in the office bathroom, and discover my life\u2019s work and purpose at the end of it all. But that was the journey.<\/span><\/p>\n I had done that before; I had moved from my native Macedonia to the States, to Bulgaria, to Mexico, to Spain. I thought I had it all figured out!<\/span><\/p>\n However, moving to London was the first time in my life I jumped somewhere completely new, by myself. And was it hard! The work that I came to do was not what I expected, my boss was a bully \u2013 I ended up each and every single workday locked in the office bathroom, crying, and waiting for others to leave, so they didn’t notice my puffed face and red-rimmed eyes.<\/span> Little did I know I was the process of shedding my old identity, beliefs, values and worldview and that I was going through a birthing process. <\/span>I was midwifing the new me that was taking shape and form<\/b>, and I did it mostly on my own.<\/span><\/p>\n It didn\u2019t occur to me to ask for support or help, or look for others who might be going through the same<\/span>. I didn\u2019t think that it was the circumstances but blamed it mostly on me<\/b>: I was not talented enough, smart enough, flexible enough or brave enough.<\/span><\/p>\n Then gradually, after a year or so, things shifted and finally started falling into place. I became more comfortable and confident in my new reality. I noticed it even in the way I walked, with my back straight, head held high, strolling down the street, feeling like I belonged as well. I changed jobs, I met great people, and I finally started getting the inside jokes. <\/span>I would get a glimpse of myself in a passing mirror and would see a friend looking back at me<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n I also realized I was braver and more confident than ever before \u2013 because of having gone through the experience, and everything I learned on the way.<\/span><\/p>\n That journey\u2014of shifting careers, culture, identity\u2014is at the heart of what I do now.<\/b> As a Certified Life, Executive and Career Coach, I partner with women who are ready to step into what\u2019s next.
